Your Doors, Your Choice of Timber

Tulip

Tulip wood, also known as tulipwood or yellow poplar, is a light, attractive hardwood prized for its smooth texture and subtle, straight grain. It typically ranges in colour from pale yellow to light brown, often with gentle green or grey streaks that add visual interest. Tulip wood is easy to work with, making it a popular choice for furniture, cabinetry, and interior millwork. Despite being lightweight, it offers good strength and stability, and it finishes beautifully, taking stains and paints evenly. Its versatility and clean appearance make tulip wood a reliable and stylish option for a wide range of woodworking projects.

Sapele

Sapele is a high-quality hardwood native to West Africa, particularly found in countries like Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon. It is prized for its rich, reddish-brown colour that deepens over time and it’s attractive grain patterns, often featuring interlocking waves and a subtle shimmer. Sapele is durable, stable, and resistant to wear, making it a popular choice for high-end furniture, cabinetry and flooring. Its strength and workability also make it a favoured material in boat building and architectural joinery. Overall, Sapele is valued for both its beauty and performance in woodworking.

Softwood

Softwood is a versatile and widely used type of timber known for its light weight, ease of handling, and natural strength. It typically comes from fast-growing conifer trees such as pine, spruce, and fir, and is prized for its consistent texture and straight grain. Softwood is a practical choice for doors because it is easy to cut, shape, and join, allowing for smooth construction and precise detailing. It also accepts paints and stains well, making it adaptable to many design styles and finishes. While generally more affordable than hardwoods, softwood still provides reliable durability for interior doors and can be treated or engineered for improved stability and resistance to warping.

Oak

Oak is a premium hardwood known for its strength, durability, and timeless beauty, making it an excellent choice for doors. Its distinctive grain pattern and warm natural tones create an elegant, sophisticated look that complements both traditional and modern interiors. Oak is highly resistant to daily wear and impact, ensuring that doors maintain their appearance and integrity even in high-traffic areas. It also offers excellent stability, standing up well to changes in temperature and humidity, which helps prevent warping or cracking over time. With its ability to take stains and finishes beautifully, oak allows for a wide range of customization to match any design style.

Composite (non timber)

Unlike traditional timber or uPVC doors, composite doors are expertly engineered using multiple high-performance materials, including a reinforced solid core, a durable outer skin, and advanced insulating layers. This innovative construction delivers exceptional strength and enhanced security, outstanding thermal efficiency to help keep your home warm, excellent weather resistance with minimal maintenance required, long-lasting colour that won’t fade or peel, and improved sound insulation for a quieter, more comfortable living environment.
